Rock 'n' Roll Panic! is my love letter to rock music, as well as a chance to give my take on a PPT game genre I've always liked but couldn't use as often as I would have wanted. One template is designed for using images to elicit spoken responses from students; the other is made to accommodate text-based cues for students to read or write. I made separate templates due to the different visual / editing needs for each method.
Students try to hide their team's animal rocker behind the color-coded instrument / gear of their choice (by speaking the target language for the picture or other visual prompt you place in the box above it / reading the matching color text prompt). Teachers click on the corresponding instrument icon below that team's animal, then click 'Ready?' when all teams are hidden.
That's when Old Man Turtle comes in to yell at the band for making too much noise. If a team's animal gets 'caught' (that persistent old turtle will knock 2-4 instruments out of the way), that team gets no points for the round. All the safely hidden teams will get 1 point. To make it more exciting, one hiding space will get a spotlight for +1 point, and one more will get a magical 'golden axe' for +2 points!
Prep for the image version requires placing 6 images onto the 'signs' above the instruments, while the text version has pre-existing text boxes you can overwrite with your text cues. There are six slides (plus six hidden alternate slides to swap in if you've already played the game with a specific group of students- the image and text versions are already swapped by default).
