My students love soccer.  [Note- I know.  To many people, it's 'football'.  However, my students learn the word 'soccer', so that's what I went with.]  Thinking about how to adapt the classic 'land game' (a board game that uses rock-paper-scissors in a sort of tug of war) and actually have the action happening on the screen (rather than print-outs on the board), soccer seemed a natural fit for pushing toward an end space and scoring a point.

Soccer Champions divides classes into two teams (the 'Dragons' in blue vs. the 'Tigers' in red), then has one student from each team stand up to make a dialogue (looking at your lesson images in the red and blue frames at the top of the screen).  Those two students then play rock-paper-scissors to see which team will move the ball forward, and the next two students for each team will take over for the next turn.

What separates this game from previous PPT games, however, is that students can actually see the action happening as the players kick and head the ball, make dramatic saves, and score goals to the cheers of the crowd.  Teachers simply click on the player whose team won at RPS to move the ball forward, cause the goalkeeper to stop the ball, or score a goal (then click the score to raise it by one), and you can do this as many times as you like on the same slide (keeping prep time to a minimum).

The final slide lets you celebrate the winning team's victory in thrilling fashion, capping off a fun experience for your students (that, coincidentally, gives them ample opportunity and motivation to practice their listening and speaking skills).

Game on.
